“Why is This Night Different?”
A Play by Marvin Kaplan
Here’s the information on the December 5th reading of Marvin Kaplan’s last play, “Why Is This Night Different?” at 8pm. It is a black comedy set on the night of a Seder dinner where everything goes terribly wrong, The play is very funny but also very compelling, dealing at once with issues of faith, compassion, family, and, well, murder. The cast includes company members Sara Ballantine, Brian Beery, Sara Shearer Clawson, Jack Kutcher, David Mingrino, Don Moss, Steve Nevil, Kristin Towers-Rowles, Sandra Tucker, Dianne Travis, and guest artist Jake Getman as young David, with Narration by Michael Van Duzer . The play, per Marvin’s request, is being directed by Marcia Rodd. The TW Board is allowing this reading to be open to the public, and there will be a Writers’ Workshop feedback session following the reading. This is a free event in association with the Kaplan-Loring Foundation (all actors are being paid for rehearsals and the actual performance reading).
